Location: Head Office, Oldbury B68
Hours: 35-hours per week, 9am-5pm
Salary: £26,000 per annum
New Outlook has been providing housing and care services to people with sensory impairment across the West Midlands for over 170 years.
We currently have 10 Care and Supported Living services across Birmingham, and some General Needs properties in Redditch.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with at least 1 years’ previous experience of working in a Housing environment and with engaging and empowering tenants. This is a real opportunity to join a growing organisation that is flexible and supportive.
You should have awareness of Tenant Satisfaction Measures, the National Housing Federations ‘Together with Tenants’ initiative, an understanding of the legal framework and legislation around tenant involvement, and an understanding of the role of an Engagement and Involvement Coordinator.
You must be a people’s person; a can-doer with a pleasant, warm personality that makes you approachable. You will enjoy talking to our tenants and finding ways to engage them in all aspects of their tenancy. You will have a real passion for enhancing tenants’ experiences so that each person gets the most out of their home. Alongside the tenancy part of this role, we want you to engage and empower our tenants, so we are seeking someone who enjoys arranging events and meetings, where tenants’ voices can be heard.
You will be responsible for recruiting and engaging tenants to participate in tenant involvement opportunities and promoting a people’s panel, as well as creating events for tenants, external stakeholders, and community groups.
You should be proficient in using internal housing systems to update people’s records and have a good understanding of Microsoft packages, to include Word and Excel.
Duties for this role will include but are not limited to, ensuring tenant involvement with a focus on setting up forums and surgeries for tenants, signposting tenants to external agencies within the community who can enhance our support, arranging social events, supporting the Head of Housing with measuring customer satisfaction, report writing based on meetings held with tenants, and having an understanding of the legal framework and legislation around tenant involvement.
As an Engagement & Involvement Coordinator, you will be working with tenants with varied needs, therefore you must be flexible in your approach with excellent listening skills and a high level of empathy and understanding. You should be self-motivated, capable of independently managing your office schedule, and conducting on-site visits to services. You will occasionally visit our properties in Redditch, so the commitment to visit different sites is essential. You should be prepared to occasionally work outside of office hours to meet the needs of tenants.
Please note, you must have a full UK Driving Licence and use of a car for business purposes, and able to apply for enhanced DBS clearance, together with evidence of your Right to Work in the UK. These will need to be shown at the interview stage.
If you think you have what it takes with the experience to match, then we want to hear from you.
